Management tools and standards in support of Sustainable Development Goal 14 ''Life below water''

Chairs: Roland Cormier (Germany), Andreas Kannen (Germany), Sigurdur Guðjónsson (Iceland) and Wojciech Wawrzynski (ICES)

​This science-policy workshop aims to:

  • identify sources of risks to delivering SDG14 targets
  • identify risks of not achieving goals in the whole ecosystem context
  • assess worst case impact and probability of each risk
  • assess reduction of impact with regulation and legislation
  • assess acceptability of net risks
  • identify national regulations that need to be amended to achieve SDG14 targets
  • recommend science-based solutions (controls, regulations, protocols) to reduce unacceptable risks to acceptable, towards national implementation strategies
  • publish recommendations

This is the first workshop organized by ICES in collaboration with the UNECE regarding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
