ICES Annual Science Conference, 19–23 September, Riga, Latvia, promises an exciting week-long forum that brings the international marine science community together to share innovative science. Scientists, policy- and decision-makers, students, and stakeholders are all invited to join the discussions on science for sustainable seas.
One of the important and unique features of ICES is its capacity to cover the entire spectrum from monitoring to data provision to science and advice. The ASC reflects this range in the 18 theme sessions that will take place at this year's conference.
The Arctic, integrated ecosystem assessments, data collection, fisheries management, behavioural economics, and the integration of social sciences into marine ecosystem management are among the topics that welcome abstract submissions.
"The ASC is known for its participatory approach by creating a conference where scientist, managers, and stakeholders get together. Through presentations and discussions of new knowledge, we continue to discover together. We have taken this legacy to the next level this year and encouraged more variation in the format of the theme sessions, allowing more room for discussions and panels, engagement and inspiration", explains Yvonne Walther, Chair of the ICES Science Committee. "Curious?" she adds, "Submit a paper and join us for a memorable event."
The deadline for submission of abstracts is 30 April 2016.
