The continuation of the renewal of the ICES Strategic Plan (2014–2018) was on the agenda at a meeting involving a Bureau sub-group and members of ICES Secretariat staff met at the Marine Institute in Galway, Ireland 17 – 18 June.
The sub-group will present the outcome to ICES Executive Committee, who will get together in July to draft the plan. The draft plan will then be circulated to the sub-committees (Advisory Committee, Science Committee, and Data and Information Services) and the wider ICES community in September so comments can be incorporated prior to the plan being submitted to ICES Council in October.
ICES President Paul Connolly said, "I'm really pleased with the outcome of the meeting; we made good progress in identifying key activities for ICES that will form the basis for discussions on a renewed strategic plan."
