Duration: 2013 - 2017

ICES contact: Wojciech Wawrzynski, Head of Science Support

Project objectives :

  • Improve innovation and competitiveness of fishery, aquaculture and seafood supply chains all the way to the consumer
  • Define the research and information needed to underpin revisions to the Common Fisheries Policy and ensure national R&D programmes support its implementation
  • Develop a strategy for cooperation between the European Commission, Member States, the research community and other stakeholders.

ICES role:

The contents will be elaborated separately for the three pillars (fisheries, aquaculture and seafood processing) and compiled together into one document. Areas of common interests, gaps, possible duplications, possibilities for joint calls with other parallel initiatives and cooperation with other projects will be identified.
  • Training for Human Capacity Building. This task will investigate training needs and skill gaps for a sustainable development in European fisheries, aquaculture, and sea food processing with the goal of giving advice on training needs and to develop and provide needed training in the future.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s FP7 research and innovation programme under

grant agreement no 321553.
