The award ceremony takes place at ICES Annual Science Conference (ASC) in Gateshead, UK, in September 2024.
There are two stages to the process.
First, nominations are made online. As a nominator, you will submit the candidate's name along with a few sentences describing why you have nominated them.
Following the 1 May deadline, the Awards Committee will ask the nominator to submit more detailed supporting material about their candidate (nomination letter, CV, list of publications, and letters of support). The deadline for contributing supporting material is 3 June.
Please be aware that nominations lacking supporting material will not be considered in the final evaluation. Self-nominations are not permitted.
Outstanding Achievement Award
This annual award recognizes a member of ICES community who has made important contributions to ICES in the field of marine science over a sustained period.
Prix d'Excellence Award
This award, presented every three years, recognizes a scientist who has made substantial contributions to marine science. The candidates for this award come from the wider marine community and need not have an association with ICES.
ICES awards recognize the diversity of the marine science community. We encourage nominations from groups currently underrepresented in our recognition programme, including women and those from underrepresented regions.
